China Inside Out Chapter 1 Response

In chapter 1, I learned that the government is crooked and strict with their news and information.  Rather than share there information with people in China, they block the connections and keep their information confidential.  I was initially shocked at the government because I had no idea that the Chinese government restricted certain websites from the public.  The fact that their keeping information from the public is not making any situation better because the public reacted to it with anger and with their own public statements.  As ineffective as their responses may seem to the Chinese government, their reactions has caught the interest of other countries like America.  The Chinese government, however, blocked American media outlets like BBS, CNN, the Washington Post, and the New York Times so that their information will stay protected.  Their authority is corrupted and unfair because they are the ones who are truly violating the public's freedom of expression.  I'm not in support for pornography myself, but the way the government interfered with blocking porn sites may be offensive.  Many people are attracted to pornography and many people consider pornography a business mechanism.  It's basically a freedom of expression and if people can't express themselves because of government censorship, what is it in the world that they would be able to share?  The fact that the Chinese government censored it doesn't make them politically and morally correct and they don't look for the public's interests.  When Dodson put together this chapter, he immediately addressed the ultimate issue that is effecting China.  He puts the reader in the position where they have to read about the corruption in order for the reader to react to it, but he also applies his general information about the current problems in China.
