While reading China Inside Out, I was not really surprised
with the outcome of what secretly happens in China. Even from the beginning
with Deng getting arrested for “murder” just because she was trying to defend
herself to the five year old getting molested by a 50 year old man, I agree it
was disgusting but I’m not surprised. China is a huge country with millions of
people roaming the streets constantly, stuff like this is going to happen
whether we in the U.S. hear it or not.
Going through
chapter one there’s a lot that goes on and it kind of goes from one problem to
the next, and one issue that Dodson talks about is the censorship of
pornography on the Internet. The Chinese government ends up arresting a bunch
of people for putting up these websites and making an example of them, issuing
others to stop. This whole problem is just crazy, it’s the Internet you should
be able to put whatever you want on the Internet. I’m not saying that
pornography is a good thing and I would never promote doing it, my honest
opinion about pornography is that it’s extremely dumb and weird; however it’s
still a freedom of expression. You shouldn’t be arrested for what you want to
look up on the Internet.
Finally
since we only had one chapter to read, already Dodson throws a lot at you and
everything he writes is really important. China is an insane, corrupted country
and a lot of stuff goes on that isn’t reported on. Dodson did a great job with
the first chapter and he automatically just puts everything out there about
what goes on in China.
