Chapter 5

In chapter 5 Dodson talks about how China owns 7% of their land and 20% of its population and how China’s energy needs and use of natural resources are very high in demand to maintain this population. Again like I’ve stated before nothing that China does will ever surprise me, they’re a huge country with unlimited resources that they continue to use to their advantage. There’s no doubt that they’ll want to decrease their productivity of using their resources, surely they could limit what they use but honestly it’s China they want to do as much as they with as many things possible. I don’t really see anything wrong with Dodson’s prediction of China’s future; I do however think it’s difficult to predict something that’s in the future. We have no control over what will actually happen in the future but we do contribute to what really happens. I just feel that no matter how much we apply ourselves to figuring out if China will actually be like this in the future is just exhausting work, I’m not saying just sit back and let it happen but my point is I don’t even know what I’ll do tomorrow besides get up and go to class.
However; these issues that Dodson talks about in chapter 5 can easily be applied to the U.S. We receive just as much natural resource outside of the country. China will always have more than the U.S. but I don’t see that changing for quite some time. However; since I do have to compare China and the U.S. I think China’s future will be worse than ours. It’s an unknown battle that will only be played out in the future.
