Chapter 7: Writing Style

Similar patterns can be seen throughout this chapter as well, but there are a few different approaches presented. Dodson begins the chapter with a section with all facts going from general to specific back to general to make Dodson’s claim. There is less of a personal side to this chapter, at least in the beginning. The section is mainly from news stories and past information from incidents involving local citizens, not Dodson himself. These stories; however, still lead into a factual basis describing the area and the issues, development of this particular city or town. While these new patterns arrive, so do the usual ones from the previous chapter. He kicks another section of the chapter with a personal story then facts, which lead to a main point. He ends the chapter with a mixture of general facts, which lead into specific facts, which then go into a personal account and then general facts. Several new patterns do arrive, but he ends in a typical manner similar to his previous chapter.
